Is this illegal for pay?

i got a job at my local pool ask a desk attendant, its not under the table they made me do all these papers and stuff. I just find out that my pay is 6.25 an hour. i get paid every 2 weeks. i dont work every day but i have 35/40 hours im suppose to work. (40 is the max im aloud to work) now they're taking out taxes out of my pay. Is this legal? i thought if they take taxes out of your pay or make you do papers your suppose to get minimum wage.
