Does pus from abrasion mean infection?

I fell off a hurdle and got a 2cm long abrasion on my shin. I washed it and applied antiseptic cream and plaster is every day( must I?) and one week later, it's still not dried and it has yellowish pus on it. Is it an infection? Is it serious?
