Honestly, I think it's a good book for anyone. It's a classic novel written by a very good poet, and I feel like the story and the writing can be appreciated by all sorts of people. I especially think it's good for teenagers too because it gives a very accurate depiction of Esther Greenwood (actually Sylvia Plath) dealing with depression in her adolescence. Not saying you have to be depressed to read it, but I think it still covers a lot of issues teens still deal with even though it was written in the early 60's. Also the fact that the author and main character are women doesn't mean it's not a book guys can read. The main character in The Catcher in the Rye is a guy, but a lot of girls still really like and relate to that book. There are a few "womanly" issues mentioned, like her buying birth control, but that still shouldn't turn a guy off from reading it. In short, yes it's a good, and yes, I think you should read it.

It was her job to inform DCFS of any suspicious marking that could have been abuse. If for some reason the investigation turns out unfavorably, then you most certainly will have to consult with an attorney. DCFS is one backward bureaucracy. They often leave children in the custody of abusive guardians while giving good parents hell. I'm sorry there is nothing really that you can do about them taking pictures of your daughter without your consent, except maybe file a complaint. I'd be mad as hell about it, too, but I fear you won't get any satisfaction.

Best way to treat minor dog fight wounds?

My dog Bo is a Great Dane Pitt mix. hes very sweet. but the dogs across my road are annoying and they used to assert their dominance over him when he was a puppy. now that he is grown, hes starting to fight them. this morning, he was in a pretty vicious scrap with one dog and hes pretty scratched up. he's not seriously hurt enough to take him to the vet. (i know this because we've had to take him for fighting before) this is just some bite or scratch marks and stuff. his left ear got a bit banged up. it was bleeding on the sides like a dog tried to bite it off... so i tried my best to wash it and i put some antibiotic cream on it to try to keep it from getting infected. is there any other home remedy things i could do to try to help my dog the best i can other than a vet visit? i just dont have the money fora vet visit right now. and he's doing fine, just kind of slow moving. but he's happy and doesnt show any signs of any internal damage or anything. just surface abrasions really.

I also noticed that whenever anyone carries her, she would sniff you more than before. Will she always be traumatized and acting like this? What can I do?

Help - found a lump at the back of my head. What is it?

I went to look at the baby leos as I always do (they are super cute) at a pet store at my local mall. I was horrified. They were super small3-4 inches and all of them were missing their tails. My cat seems to have a back problem?

Last night I bought Maybelline Color Sensation Lip Stain. I applied it last night, and nothing happened. Then I applied it this morning, and nothing happened then either. Well first of all if your dog was already on a monthly regiment of frontline then you should not be applying another flea and tick application, you can easily overdose and poison the dog. Frontline plus has been used to treat demodex and has been known to work very well. You can also ask your vet about using a medicated shampoo such as mitaban, which is specifically designed to help with the treatment of demodex and sarcoptic mange. If the dog is flaring up again i would take her back to the vet and have a skin scraping performed to make sure that it is still the demodex and not some other sort of mange such as sarcoptic mange. Demodex is harder to treat in older dogs so it may take longer then usual treatment. The last option i have seen for the treatment of demodex is interceptor ( yes the monthly heartworm prevenative) when used daily for a period of time it has shown to work wonders with demodex.. but the cost adds up very quickly. Your best bet would be to go back to the vet for a follow up skin scraping, ivermectin treatment, and a mitaban dip, then a follow up skin scraping to make sure the mites are under control. Most vets also would be recommending a blood panel be performed to make sure the immune system isn't being compromised as that will delay the treatment even more. Good luck though!!

Does anyone remember this old children's book about a dragon?

I have a vague memory of this one picture book from when I was a kid but we don't have it anymore and I can't find it in Google. It centered around a little boy who went to fight a dragon because everyone in his village was afraid of it. But when the dragon comes out of the cave, it turns out he is not a real dragon at all but one made out of springs, gears, and clockwork bits. I can't remember any more details of the plot except I think one of the reasons everyone was afraid of it was the loud clanging sound it made when it walked. does spermicidal condoms make it easier for a guy to get HIV if he isn't sure his partner is infected? i had a one night fling with a girl who i barely know and we had sex and i used two spermicidal condoms and checked both of them for leaks and there were no leaks. she also said she has nothing but has never been tested so she might not know herself is which is why im scared. ive been freaking out ever since cuz i read that the spermicide nonoxenol 9 irritates skin and makes the transmission of HIV easier. my skin has never been irritated from using it. i had no cuts or abrasions on my penis at all but still worried. its been about a month since the sexual encounter and i have been fine till i started thinking about being infected with HIV and herpes then i get this mild mild mild burning inside my penis like in the urethra after i started thinking about it again. i had also had the tingling like the very next day after the encounter and i went to go get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia but planned parenthood said if they didn't call me back it was negative and they never called me back so i assume its negative and after that it went away.I have no lesions or anything on my penis and i had a nurse at planned parenthood check me and she said everything looks fine and she is about 99 percent sure i don't have herpes. im still gonna get a igg specific test in june just to make sure because some people are asymptomatic. its been about 5 weeks and i have been fine with no lesions or anything that looks abnormal on my genitals. but i started thinking about the possibility of me being infected again and my penis started to tingle again and had a mild mild mild burn after urinating and mild mild itching around the genitals. i haven't been tested for HIV yet till Wednesday so im still worried about that and the possibility of herpes. i recently had blood work done a little after the encounter and my liver enzymes were really high like 436 AST and 206 ALT. my doctor referred me to a nephrologist and they checked my kidneys with an ultrasound which they said looked normal and he said i could have had an infection that passed to my kidneys because i was very sick two weeks earlier before the sexual encounter. i also had overworked my muscles the day i went for the blood and urine test so he said muscle toxins could have leaked into my kidneys and caused an infection. i have not had any antibiotics for anything. im going back to the doctors tomorrow but does anyone have any idea whats happening to me? i hardly drink for liver enzymes to be elevated so high. and i only had sex with the girl one time with protection. i feel fine overall except for my worrying about contracting something and the mild burn after urinating and mild itching. could i still have some kind of infection in my kidneys or liver? or some kind of STD they missed? im so worried i cant even relax or think straight. im deathly afraid of HIV and Herpes.

Red spotting only during sex?

TTC #1 and now on CD 27. Ever since about a week ago I've been having red spotting during sex. At first I thought it was an early period but the spotting only occurs during sex, and I have no cramps. I'm really worried about my old friend?

We're 15 years old and she moved to a new school 2 months ago and I sometimes see her on the bus and hear lots of gossip about her. Is Bells Palsy more likely to occur during pregnancy if I have already had it in a previous pregnancy?

Im 29 years old and just found out I am pregnant with my third child. During my second pregnancy, toward the end, I noticed a weakening in the right side of my face and was then diagnosed with bells palsy. Fortunately I recovered after only a few weeks, which included being on a steroid treatment. Its been just over 2 years and I am now pregnant with my third child and was wanting to know if I am more likely to get Bells Palsy again. I never suffered from it during my first pregnancy, only my second. Although it didn't last long it was still quite distressing and would hate to go through it again.

I got this product at wall-mart last night and treated my cat with it. She goes outside quite often. About a month ago my husband spread tick granduals on the yard and this helped alot keeping the ticks off the cat and the kids. She is a great mouser but I was afraid of her getting parasites from mice and birds she kills outside, so I put a collar with a bell on it around her neck. Alright, so about 3 days ago me and my long time girlfriend had unprotected sex, as we have for a long time. No lube or anything, it was kind of random. I've had a little pain in my lower back here and there, but it could be from work or anything, and today every now and again my testacles feel like I've been "bag tagged" but again could be from work. What is this red spot on my butt?

about a week ago i noticed that there was a slightly raised, circular red bump a little smaller than a dime on my right butt cheek. the surface of the skin there was a bit flaky/scaly, and was sensitive if i poked at it, but i'm sure i would never have noticed it if i didn't happen to brush my fingers over it. I didn't do anything to it for a few days because it wasn't bothering me and i figured it might go away on its own, but is still looked the same, and i decided i wanted to get rid of it. I was thinking that it was ringworm fungus, and my roomate seemed to think that menthol would kill the fungus, so i ended up putting vic's vapor rub on it with a band aid over it (silly i know), which didn't help and made it more red and sensitive, so i finally made an appointment at health services on my college campus. when i showed it to the doctor there, the surface of the skin was now a bit glossy like a blister, so he told me it that was an abrasion or rug burn even though i explained that the bump was definitely not rug burn as i have not dragged my *** across any carpets lately, it literally appeared out of nowhere. regardless, he didn't care and just gave me some anti-bacterial ointment to put on it, and told me it should go away in a few days. it's been a few days and ive still got the stupid thing, like i said it's not bothering me physically - ever since ive had it it will occasionally itch but very faintly, so i can't exactly say that it's itchy - but it just kinda weirds me out and i know that whatever it is, it probably shouldn't be there. so can any one tell me what the heck it is?

I scratched my eye two days ago, how I don't even know. I was just sitting there, and it suddenly started spazzing out. I went home for the night, and the next day I ended up going to urgent care due to it being very painful to blink, keep my eye open, and even close it. It was also tearing a lot. The physician gave me some antibiotic eye drops and told me if I didn't see noticeable improvement by today to contact an ophthalmologist. I have noticed a large improvement today, aka it doesn't hurt anymore, but my question is will this ever come back to bite me in the ***, and what are the chances that I got eye damage from this?

I am a bit of a gypsy. I cant stay in one place for too long. I have gone to four different high schools and lived in 6 different states throughout my life. And i have loved every part of it. What's wrong with my beagle?!?

i have a 3 year old beagle and she is completely crate trained.whenever she needs to go outside to do her business, she rings the bell attached to the doorknob but today she didn't. All of a sudden she peed on her bed then ran away scared and peed next to our family room couch. i pushed her outside but she immediately peed on the concrete when she got out. Then she started walking down the steps but she was shivering and the way she stepped was like a robot. at the bottom of the stairs she sat down and she was shaking all over,drooling, and her eyes became unfocused. I tried to get her to stand up and go to the grass but once she stood up she started swaying and it looked like her thighs were flexing and unflexing really fast. she finally got to the grass and she lied down and drooled uncontrollably. 5 minutes later she got up really slow and started walking around like nothing happened!! She seems fine now but she acts nervous around me. This has happened to her before after she went jogging but she wasn't shaking or peeing uncontrollably. I can understand tipping a waitress or waiter, and even maybe the pizza guy, but why should i tip dairy queen workers or gas station attendants or starbucks workers, im already giving them my buisiness, plus they dont need the tips like a waitress does, i should start asking for a tip for fueling their company with my buisiness, jk. Ok, so I've been doing a lot of research lately about Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-plane 9. I got the free trial of both of them and have tested them both out. I really don't know though because since you only get a free trial, you really can't explore all of the features. Ah, the difficulties of selecting fitting rooms...I'm sorry dude, it's always a rough choice and especially identifying as male, using the womens changing room has to be hard on you because it's another reminder of the damn "femaleness" you just haven't been able to fix or eliminate yet :( I don't identify as trans, just a buth lesbian, but I do dress in a masculine way; I have often confused sales persons who then look at me and send me to the family changing room ( or as I call it, the gender queer changing stall). Anyway, I often use the men's restroom to avoid lines or staring grannnies, and frequently shop in men's sections and change in their rooms bc I don't want to leave th floor (and some stores won't allow you to take merchandise to other areas) and from my experience, the men's changing areas are similar to women's...a bunch of stalls individually closed off where you're in your own ltitle space. If you feel comfortable, use the men's bc chances are, you won't see anyone and no one will care; if the sales person does say somethig you can either play it off "oh, the womens is doesnstairs? Haha...sorry" or assert your masculinity saying "yeah, I know this is the mens...that's why I'm here man". If you would prefer to avoid the chance of this, you can use the women's; but unless you look feminine at first glance, older women and people working changing booths for women might give you a hard time. As ive been told "no one wants a guy in there!" lol. It all boils down to (first and foremost) your safety, and secondly comfort. Wherever you feel safe, wherever you feel comfort, us that one. Same with bathrooms.
